Business Visit: Rural Health, Inc.
This morning, our CEO students had an informative visit with Rural Health Director of Public Relations, Shawnna Rhine.
Shawnna shared valuable insight into Rural Health as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)—a community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive primary care and preventive services to underserved, low-income, uninsured, and underinsured populations. She explained that FQHCs receive federal funding, operate under a community board, and offer services on a sliding fee scale, ensuring access to care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. She also emphasized that Rural Health welcomes patients of all income levels and accepts all forms of health insurance coverage.
Students also learned about Shawnna’s role, where she oversees all marketing and media efforts for Rural Health. From managing social media and attending resource fairs to conducting interviews with media outlets, her work plays a vital role in connecting the community with available healthcare services.
We are grateful to Shawnna for taking the time to share her expertise and provide our students with a deeper understanding of Rural Health and its impact on the community.
